The doctoral program in Environmental Studies is a 69-credit program that can be completed in 4-5 years. Environmental studies doctoral students complete four phases of the program with their cohorts. Each phase spans approximately a year.

Doctoral students are funded jointly by Environmental Studies and the students’ focal department. Graduates of our program work in national, state, and local government as well as national and regional environmental organizations, and many have pursued careers in research and teaching at leading colleges and universities.
Students also will be required to give a presentation annually at the Environmental Sciences Graduate Program Student Symposium.
